LETTER TO HOUSEHOLDS
Community Eligibility Provision
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Starting March 1, 2024 Aragon, Abrams, AIM, Carson Middle, Eagleside, Fountain Middle, Fountain-Fort Carson High School, Jordahl, Mesa, Mountainside, Patriot, Weikel and Welte Education Center are participating in a Community Eligibility Provision as part of the Healthy School Meals for All program for the current school year 2023-2024. If your children attend Aragon, Abrams, AIM, Carson Middle, Eagleside, Fountain Middle, Fountain-Fort Carson High School, Jordahl, Mesa, Mountainside, Patriot, Weikel and Welte Education Center, breakfast and lunch will be available to them at no charge.
Studies have shown that children who are not hungry perform better in school. By providing lunch to all children at no charge, we are hoping to create a better learning environment for our students. The school breakfasts and lunches that we serve follow U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines for healthy school meals. The School Breakfast and Lunch Programs cannot succeed without your support; please encourage your children to participate in the school meal programs. Meals will be served to all students at no charge regardless of the eligibility status.
If you have any questions about the program, please feel free to contact us at (719) 382-1334.
Sincerely,
Sandra Ramirez
Food Service Director

Food Safety & Special Dietary Needs
Food Safety:
The kitchen staff takes food safety very seriously. We have regular trainings throughout the school year and all of our managers are ServSafe Certified. We do this to ensure we serve food that is safe for our staff and our students.
To support the training and keep safety in our daily habits, we perform Food Safety and Physical Safety audits in every kitchen every month. In addition to those internal audits, the El Paso County Health Department performs annual audits in the schools in Fountain and the US Army performs multiple audits in the schools on Fort Carson.
Special Dietary Needs:
If your student needs a special meal accommodation, please complete the Medical Statement for Meal Modification Form and return it to the school nurse at your student(s)'s school. This form can be found here or at any of the D8 schools, just ask for a nurse or kitchen manager. Please note that a section of the form must be completed by a licensed medical professional.

Summer EBT 2024
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Our district is now implementing the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) to maximize federal funding, alongside the Healthy School Meals for All program.
The CEP allows us to serve breakfast and lunch at no cost to all enrolled students without the need for household income applications. To take advantage of reduced costs for Summer School fees, testing, and/or technology fees, please complete the income form linked here: Income Form. It is essential to have this form on file before April 14, 2024 that is when information will be submitted to the state for students who may qualify for Summer EBT benefits..
Families who qualify may receive Summer EBT benefits of $40 per eligible child per month during the summer, in addition to free summer meals programs. You are eligible if you participate in SNAP, TANF, or Medicaid. Please ensure that your school has your current information and eligibility details on file by contacting Nutrition Services at (719) 382-1334.
If you haven't submitted a free/reduced lunch application this school year, kindly fill out the Family Economic Data Survey here: Family Economic Data Survey.
